The hardest thing to do when starting with any Internet business is to get traffic to the website that is responsible for generating your income. Yes, your friends and family will visit, and you might even be able to get your retired parents to hit the site more than once. However, if you are relying on just them to generate enough traffic to help you make ends meet, you will be sorely disappointed. Your friends and family have their own lives, visiting your website will be low on their priority list unless you happen to own a large social media site. That means that you need to find someone like Orangesoda on Vimeo to help get the word out about your website. Whether it is through a social marketing campaign, through a video campaign, or through search engine optimization, you need a third party that can help raise your visibility.

Too Much Noise

The Internet is a vast, interconnected wasteland of information. If you think about America’sHorse with No Name, you will understand the idea that the Internet is to information, what the ocean is to water. The desert is one place where it is difficult to find water. Before the Gutenberg’s printing press information was much the same as water in the desert. However, the Internet has opened up the flood gates of information and has created a vast ocean of the stuff in electronic code. Unfortunately, much like the salty seas, the thirst for information can be difficult to quench when there is so much available that it threatens to drown the sailor. Yes, there is water, water, everywhere and not a drop to drink, but you can get more information on the Internet than anywhere else at any time in the history of the planet. It even dwarfs the library at Alexandria, which was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.

Rise Above

Your goal should be to rise above the noise that everyone creates on the Internet and to get noticed. While Google would have you believe that content is king, they are really selling you a bill of goods. You might have purchased that swampland in Florida, but you missed out on the Disney land buying. The reality of the Internet is that having good content is important, but even if you have the best content on the web, you may never get noticed because a program that uses a mathematical algorithm is responsible for making sure that your website gets noticed. There is no mathematical algorithm that can explain why stories about Miley Cyrus twerking are better or more SEO worthy than stories about koala bears or destruction in Syria. It really takes marketing with fizz to get noticed, andOrangesoda on Vimeois one of the places that can provide such marketing. Otherwise, you are going to have to figure out how to write better inconsequential stories about celebrities and their attention getting actions than everyone else out there who is hoping to ride the latest craze.
